Cancellation Policy
This is Chiapas is a discovery guide. We publish destinations, festivals and community listings, and we connect travellers with local hosts, guides and operators. This page explains who owns a booking, how cancellations are handled, and what to do when plans change.
Who you are booking with
This is Chiapas does not process payments and does not act as a travel agency. When you reserve a stay, tour or table through a link on this site, the contract is between you and the local host or operator listed on that page.
That host's own cancellation terms are the ones that apply to your money. Always read them before you pay, and keep the confirmation they send you.
Cancelling a booking
- Contact the host or operator directly, using the contact details in your confirmation, as early as you can.
- Ask for written confirmation of the cancellation, including any refund amount and the date it will be sent.
- If you booked through a third-party platform, cancel inside that platform so the timestamp is recorded.
- If you cannot reach a host listed on this site, write to us and we will try to help you make contact.
Changes caused by weather, roads or public events
Chiapas has a long rainy season, mountain roads and a dense calendar of civic and religious festivals. Routes, opening hours and festival dates can change at short notice, and community authorities may close a site without warning.
In those cases most operators offer a reschedule rather than a refund. We recommend leaving buffer days around fixed commitments and confirming access the day before you travel.
Festival listings
Festival dates published in our calendar are informative. They are compiled from municipal and community sources and can move. A change to a published date is not a booking cancellation, and we cannot refund costs arising from it.
Reporting a problem or a wrong listing
If a listing is inaccurate, a host is unreachable, or an agreed refund is not honoured, tell us through the contact channel on the home page. We review reports, correct our listings, and remove operators who repeatedly fail travellers.
